While surfing is believed to have originated long ago in ancient Polynesia, the art of surfing upright on long boards was certainly perfected in Hawaii. In the Hawaiian language surfboards were known as papa he'e nalu and were made of wood from local trees such as Koa. In the early 1900s, surfing was revitalized on Waikiki Beach. Today, only a few craftsmen have the skills needed to build a classic wooden surfboard. Long enough to ride the wave off Waikiki or Malibu. Just short enough to casually lean into a corner of your living room, study, or den. Boards are made of laminated strips of selected light woods. Three fins are included for improved stability. The board is finished with a thin epoxy skin, allowing use on that tropical beach that is calling you! Or you can display it in any room in your coastal home. It is the ultimate conversation piece for your house at the beach!
